The Tampa Bay Times is looking for a top-notch, creative, confident and collaborative features designer to join our team of enthusiastic, award-winning designers, photographers and editors.
The designer we’re looking for, just to be clear, is creative and collaborative. He or she will be someone who likes to have fun also busy. A designer who runs toward – rather than away from – challenges. Someone who is always up to learn more and do more.
The job: Designing sections such as food, arts, entertainment, travel and other advance sections; and art directing photo shoots and illustrations. You would be expected to be involved on the front end – working with editors on concepts for covers and print and web content – as well as the back end – working with imaging and output to make sure all your hard work shows up in print and online. A focus on the web and ideas for how to translate print concepts for online presentations are also key.
Designers with two or three years of experience are preferred, but all applicants – including recent graduates – will be considered.
What you need to know: InDesign, Photoshop
What we’d like you to know: Basic HTML with a good understanding of CSS styling
And it couldn’t hurt to know: Illustrator, DTI pagination system
Please send resumes and links to your work to Paul Alexander, presentation editor, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
