The Albuquerque Journal is looking for a sports designer to join our talented staff.
Candidates should know how to use InDesign. Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator would be a plus.
University of New Mexico sports is a big part of our coverage, though we also do the usual high school sports stuff and will give good play to the national stories.
We are not a design hub for a big newspaper chain. We are a family-owned newspaper located in a lovely Southwestern city.
And since you won't be spending all of your time at work, here are a few things you might want to know about Albuquerque: It's a fun city with a lively entertainment scene. It's a place where it's almost aways sunny (the city averages 310 days of sunshine per year). It doesn't get too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter.
If you're interested in outdoor activities, you can take a hike in the mountains or hit the ski trails in the morning before you even come to work. The Sandia mountains are really close to the city.
