Bukit Brown Cemetery has remained untouched in a corner of Singapore over the past decades. The 100,000 graves tell stories of people who lived and died here. Some of them are familiar names, with streets and estates named after them. There are also many paupers buried here, perhaps with less successful tales, but with stories to call their own. The Straits Times Art Desk walks through the grounds to trace the heritage of this 86ha cemetery, which has attracted recent insterest over its redevelopment.
