About me
Bill Ramsey is a graphic designer, journalist and illustrator who has occupied virtually every chair in the newsrooms of more than half a dozen newspapers — from designer and illustrator to art director, journalist, copy editor and editor — during a career spanning more than 25 years. He is currently a news page designer with The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn. He has been the lead designer at daily newspapers in Texas, Louisiana and California, and the art director of alternative newsweeklies in Texas, Virginia and Tennessee. As a writer and reporter, Ramsey’s byline sits atop hundreds of stories, articles, features, essays and columns covering news, politics, entertainment and business published in newspapers and magazines around the world. As an artist, Ramsey’s humorous illustrations and caricatures have been featured in numerous publications. For eight years, Ramsey served as a military journalist with the U.S. Air Force, traveling extensively throughout the world while reporting and designing for numerous military publications. His memoir, “Bombed in the Backyard,” a fictional version of his time serving as a military journalist during the Reagan years, is due out this year. Ramsey also operates RamseyMedia, a full-service design and content agency specializing in content and design for print and digital platforms.
