About me
I graduated from The University of Iowa in May 2014 with a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication, and a Certificate in Sustainability. I have since been working as a news designer at Gannett Corporation in Des Moines, Iowa. I was introduced to publication design through my time in the U.S. Army Reserve; my first time designing a newspaper was in Joint Base Balad, Iraq in 2010. I designed part of the Daily Iowan, the UI student newspaper, for two years. I also designed a quarterly news publication for my army reserve unit for about two years, along with a 46-page magazine. Now, I typically work on three different newspapers: The Des Moines Register, the Iowa City Press-Citizen, and the Argus Leader out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In the next couple of years, I would like to transition into magazine design.
I was born and raised in Des Moines and I love this city. I've found some of the best people, shows, food, and activities here. I plan to move out to the Pacific Northwest after a couple more years here, when I've gotten my post-graduation bearings in the real world. But Des Moines will always have a big place in my heart. I enjoy running, biking, music, dogs, and good food and drinks. I can't wait to see where the next few years take me!
