About me
I started my editing and design experience in junior high school with a photojournalism class. My junior and senior years in high school were spent working as entertainment editor, then editor in chief, of the high school newspaper, plus lead editor positions with the literary magazine and yearbook. I held several positions in college for yearbooks and newspapers, ranging from opinions and sports editor to editor in chief. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University in December 2005 and moved to Decatur, Ill., where I worked for four years as a copy editor/page designer in Quark Xpress. I was asked to take over the production work of the monthly Business Journal newsmagazine after only three months on the job, taking it over completely from the previous copy editor shortly thereafter. Currently, I am production editor at a publisher of dental books and journals, working in finalizing production of two journals (one 10 times a year, one four times a year) using Adobe CS5 programs (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop included), in addition to proofreading responsibilities. I am looking to get into book publishing as my ultimate career goal.
