About me
Ken has been drawing since he could wrap his grubby little fingers around a pencil. Fortunately, his parents kept him supplied with reams of paper and new 64-boxes of Crayolas periodically, and this allowed him to follow his dream of becoming a mild-mannered artist in a large metropolitan newspaper. That road included stops at SWTSU (now Texas State) and the University of Texas at Austin (B.S. in Communications 1983), followed by a couple of advertising jobs, and then a stint at the Beaumont Enterprise form 1990-1992. A transfer to the Houston Chronicle happened in 1992, and he's been there ever since, designing pages, drawing caricatures and illustrating stories. An unrepentant geek/nerd hybrid, he enjoys Star Trek, graphic novels, Legos, trivia and all things Apple (Thanks Be To Steve). He has been married to the very patient Holly Hunter Ellis since 1983, and has two grown kids, a son-in-law and two grandcats.
