It was the 60th anniversary of when the USS Nautilus -- the world's first nuclear submarine -- began service. I used this as a springboard to show all 18 classes of nuclear subs the Navy had used since then. A reader called to complain that I had left out a class, but the subs to which he was referring weren't nuclear-powered. The lead photo was an old Navy handout that I had never seen before, so I was glad to use it big. The headline was a takeoff on Jules Verne's title: I looked up the total distance the Nautilus traveled -- 513,550 miles -- and converted that to leagues. Easy peasy.
