This is the Star-Tribune's attempt to educate readers - especially young ones - about the dangers associated with backcountry skiing. Every year, readers in the Mountain West read about avalanches killing backcountry skiers. The allure of fresh powder often overwhelms the danger sensors in the brain. Our idea is that creating a game board would make absorbing this information inviting to readers. Illustrations would help lock the information in readers' minds. Writing by Christine Peterson.
