This clip is about overcoming adversity. The front page that day had a gatefold, in which an ad covers half the page. Therefore, I had to design the cover so that the page would be readable on the newsstand, with an ad covering the left half. The solution I devised was to have a vertical centerpiece package that used file art creatively. Then for the bottom strip, I decided to stack two horizontal photos rather than use another vertical piece of art.
