On week two, I built this large piece for our Sunday Outlook page, which runs inside the B section. We had two large numbers to illustrate and were considering file art. We killed that plan when I suggested we do the “Richard Johnson” thing by showing just how many prisoners have been executed in Texas and here in Harris County. I built a secondary graphic showing how support for the death penalty has been dropping over the past few decades. Page design by Robert Wuensche.
