This is, by far, the most complex school scores graphic I’ve ever been associated with. The very talented Jordan Rubio took the numbers from the local school district and ran them through his magic Excel filters to help us zero in on the best demographic and scores to show. The grey boxes up top show racial mixes of each school and how it’s changing or not changing. The center bit shows test scores, with visual emphasis on the gap at each school for black and Hispanic students. At the bottom is Jordan’s analysis of each set of data. I built all these charts, but make no mistake: Jordan was the real hero here. Feb. 8, 2015.
