I was slightly uncomfortable retelling the story of nine-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was abducted from her Arlington, Texas, neighborhood 20 years ago, sexually abused and then murdered. However, what resulted from her death is a process by which lets can be sent out to help notify people of children kidnapped in their area: The Amber Alert. They save about 200 kids a year with Amber Alerts. I’d say only one would make it worth the effort. Yes, I cried once or twice while working on this page. I hope I did Amber justice.
