It’s the 75th anniversary of FDR’s famous Four Freedoms state-of-the-union address. I took the opportunity to display the four paintings Norman Rockwell of the Saturday Evening Post did over the next few years to help publicize the freedoms and to raise money for War Bonds. You know Rockwell used his friends and neighbors in Arlington, Vt., as models for his work. You might not have known: One particular man, Jim Martin, appears in all four of these paintings. Also, he put his wife and his mom into the Thanksgiving painting.
