A look back on Apple Computer as the company turns 40. The timeline at top is rewritten from an old OC Register Focus page. I added the bit in the tint box and then wrote all new material for the lower part of the page. Originally, I had built this in my usual tabloid format — it was supposed to run in our Thursday entertainment tab. It was bumped for space, so the features folks ran it on Sunday instead. It was easy enough to reconfigure into a broadsheet, but it came up a bit short. Luckily, we had a flat ad the size we needed.
