In the years leading up and and including World War II, the industrial might of the U.S. was put to work producing thousands upon thousands of the fighter and bomber aircraft that fought in the skies over Europe and the Pacific. One of the more renowned of these was the P-51 Mustang, which was first flown 75 years ago the day after this page ran. I showed a dozen aircraft and compared their production numbers. It had been nearly a year since I did any World War II graphics, so this really scratched an itch for me. OCTOBER 25, 2015
