It’s the 80th anniversary of the launch of the Phantom comic strip. The Phantom was the first superhero to wear a mask that hid his eyeballs and a skintight costume. He predated Superman by two years and Batman by three. Not only did I build a brief timeline of the Phantom comic strip, I also showed the first 60 superheroes — basically, every one I could find that was created before Captain America — and showed how the Phantom fell into this list. An awful lot of work went into digging up all that info and the pictures.
