The day of the big Oklahoma City tornado, one of our deputy editors suggested I do something showing how these storm outbreaks compare to fatality rates of other natural disasters. That led to this pure-numbers bar chart orgy. The downside: No one other than Wikipedia, really, has these numbers compiled in a usable way. So I did something unusual: I used Wikipedia's numbers and I footnoted he hell out of them (the large copy block at the bottom, center). May 29, 2013.
