My good pal Ryan Huddle asked me what I was cooking up for the opening of the new Star Trek movie. Nothing, I told him: My Focus page runs in the A section. That's no place for a fun features treatment. But then it occurred to me: I do lots of science topics. I should do something off of all the things Star Trek predicted that came -- or did not come -- to pass. I had a lot of fun writing this one: If you can, zoom in and read the bit about downsizing. I also loved leading the package with Scotty, as opposed to Kirk and Spock. He fit perfectly with the theme of the piece, I think. May 16, 2013.
