Forget Glenn Beck. Forget Rush Limbaugh. Forget Bill O'Reilly. The guy who blazed new trails in flinging his feces at political opponents was Nixon's vice-president, Spiro Agnew. I give the briefest of professional biographies in order to focus on some of his most outrageous statements, ending with his comment from Sept. 29, 1973, on the ginormous political scandal he found himself in: "I will not resign if indicted." Twelve days later, he accepted a plea bargain that allowed him to skip prison but forced him to resign. Heh. Trivia note No. 1: Check out the 1970's style typographical treatments on his two book covers.
