My very first staff piece for the Spokesman-Review: This “Further Review” page showing what’s behind the cult status of California’s favorite burger chain. The peg: The Gonzaga Bulldogs are playing in Anaheim this week. Editor Rob Curley wrote a guide to what to do and where to eat while in town. He thought this would be a fun addition. All this info proved to be readily available via the chain itself and various other outlets. Highlights, for me: Being able to show how In-N-Out compares to the nation’s other large burger chains… Explaining the origins of the crossed palm tree logo… and especially showing the custom 100-patty burger that caused the chain to limit each order to just four pattys. Heh.
