OC Register artist Scott Brown -- who took a buyout over the summer -- had mentioned something to me earlier about the fates that befell the sister ships of the Titanic. Sure enough, the stories seemed fascinating -- but, in fact, that was just part of the story. Of the 14 ocean liners that had held the record for largest in length over the past 150 years, six had met untimely ends. Titanic and Lusitania you know, but Normandie caught fire and sank. So did the QE1. So did Majestic. This piece ran on the 100th anniversary of the date Oceanic ran aground near the Shetland Islands.
