We knew we would be getting some feature stories regarding the Iraq death toll from The Associated Press, so I developed a centerpiece that was fairly light on copy, but still conveyed the message. The AP had sent mug shots of fallen service members, so I faded those out and put them in the background. The choice of a cutout was a fairly easy one.
