On March 10, the Houston Chronicle kicked off a ginormous 11-part series that will lead up to the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 in July. My former paper hired me to do graphics for this series. Part of that will be a timeline for each installment that covers the span of time covered. For part one — which focused on John F. Kennedy’s promise to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade -- I went from the launch of Sputnik to the last Mercury flight in 1963.
