It started, arguably, in late 2013. That was when Governor Deval Patrick appointed John Fish, a local construction executive, to a commission that was charged with studying the feasibility of hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics in Boston. A year and a half later, the panel reported that, yes, the Olympics could come to Boston, and Fish launched Boston 2024 to make his dream a reality. The private group has quickly become an organization unlike any other in the city, with Patrick on board. Its members include titans of business, academia and politics — a bipartisan constellation of bold-faced names with connections to nearly every power player in Massachusetts.
