We had something special for Saturday’s front page: A story about a man who’s being deported while his wife and daughters — who are citizens — will stay in Houston. It’ a heartbreaking story by Olivia Tallet and an agonizing photo by Marie De Jesus. My task: Make this one look special and make room for as big a footprint as possible. Again — for the third time in two weeks — I dropped the rail. This worked with help from projects chief Maria Carillo — with whom I worked at the Virginian-Pilot — and bold choices by our managing editor, Vernon Loeb.
