The days since the November election have been full of public pomp and circumstance for the outgoing governor, Deval Patrick, and his successor, Charlie Baker. Patrick unveiled his official state portrait and took his famous Lone Walk out of the State House and back into private life. Baker got to work choosing his new team, visiting his new constituents across the state, celebrating with supporters. But behind the scenes were quieter moments too. The Boston Globe spent weeks with both chief executives and their aides at a moment of significant transition for Massachusetts.
