It's the 50th anniversary of the Pillbury Dough Boy. I take the opportunity to list 34 of my favorite advertising mascots and tell a fun fact about each. Example No. 1: Mr. Peanut was designed by a 14-year-old boy. Who was paid $5 for his work. Example No. 2: Mr. Owl, from the Tootsie Roll Pop commercial was voiced by the same guy who did Tigger on Winnie-the-Pooh. Example No. 3: Spuds MacKenzie, who was always portrayed as being fawned over by bikini-clad co-eds? The dog actor was female. A fun read. Oct. 11, 2015
