Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Gabby Douglas, who trains in West Des Moines, was named the AP Female Athlete of the Year. Our reporter wrote his own local story and then created a timeline for the inside as well. I had my pick of file art, but felt like the package needed something else. So I pitched the "Sweet 16" headline to go with the reporter's lead and jazzed it up.
