Features front for Dec. 20, 2009.
The wire story on knitting used didn't have great art so I decided to make a front several weeks in advance.
This piece started with the hand-drawn girl. Her original outfit was red and her legs had to be cut and pasted into place to fit her body. Her entire face was remade with custom shapes in Photoshop after the first pencil drawing didn't work well.
The background elements such as the clouds, sky and snow covered ground were created independently of the girl. The snowflakes were created with the custom shape tool in Photoshop and given an emboss trait to make them stand out since they are the same color as the sky. The giftboxes and bag were created in Quark with custom shapes and coloring.
The scarf framing for the text was the last piece added. It was quickly created in Quark as well as the hanger and wood paneling for the hanger as finishing touch.
