I was very happy with this week's pro vs. con because reporter Carolina Astrain came up with a couple of terrific sidebar-type pieces to help tell her story. The first was a re-run from the Texas Tribune. That one’s at the top of the page, with changes only for style and typography. I also wrote the “Don’t mess with taxes” headline — I was particularly proud of that. The second graphic, however, shows all our area districts, how much they spend per student in that district, from where its revenue comes from (local taxes vs. the state) and how much — if any — of that district’s local tax revenues are handed over to the state. This took a lot of research on Carolina’s part and a lot of math on my part. Monday, April 13, 2015.
