While compiling my daily “this day in history” posts, I stumbled across the 75th anniversary of the release of “Going My Way.” That movie earned Bing Crosby his one-and-only Best Actor Oscar and one of the songs he sings in that movie — the one cited at the top of this page — also won an Oscar. In fact, Crosby sang songs in movies that went on to be nominated for Oscars 14 times and four of them would win. Since Crosby is pretty much the favorite son of Spokane, I thought this might make a good Further Review page. The problem was: We had about three days’ notice from when I found this to the actual anniversary date. I went ahead and built it early… but the editors back in Spokane found a way to squeeze it into the paper on the actual date. I’m impressed. Thanks, guys.
