It's the 25th anniversary of the reunification of Germany. I write a little about how the wall came to be in the 1960s but then provide a detailed timeline starting from the time Ronald Reagan told Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall," through the fall of the wall and then over political and economic hurdles to German unity. This is the second time in two years I've taken a swing at this topic. Both times, I used that terrific AP file art that shows mixed emotions on the faces of the young East German border guards.
