This was the first time I had built a Flashback page and then had it promoted from the Chronicle’s e-edition to print. It took a lot of research to find a list of all-time top singles that I trusted enough to use as the basis for this list. And a few folks complained that I included breakup songs here. I think they’re an important part of the Love Song genre. Note that I also included one of my favorites at lower right. This ran as the center spread of our tabloid entertainment section, the Thursday before Valentine’s Day.
