This page shows how I dealt with a major spot news story – the initial court appearance of two men accused of killing a prison guard. I came up with the idea to put the two mugshots side by side, with a black bar above each explaining the charges against them. It was nothing flashy, but it was visually appealing and a good fit considering the serious nature of the story. On a side note, I also like the top boxes that I created for that day – they provided a nice contrast with the heaviness of the main story.
