Folks here in Houston talk about “the arrow” — territory to the west of downtown where mostly affluent people live. I dislike this description, and perhaps you can see why: This “arrow” is gerrymandered tremendously. I can see only the barest shape of anything like an “arrow.” Nevertheless, we wanted to write about how other nearby areas are in danger of gentrifying into extensions of the arrow. Hence, this map.
