A colleague suggested I do something for "Admission Day," the anniversary of the day California became a state. It's wasn't a "round number" anniversary, but what the hell. I dove into California statistics and decided that the state's phenomenal population boom over the past 100 years was the single most important element to emphasize. One out of every eight residents of the U.S. lives here in California. Note the little Californian holding the surfboard. Also, note the way this page simulates a chunk of the California state flag.
