Michelle, our photo editor, asked me one day if I planned to do something about the Hotshots firefighters. She had access to these gorgeous photos and was looking for a home for them. I pieced together the ASF material from a variety of sources and made room for three of the photos. I'm proud of how I kept the focus on Southern California with the bit at the lower left.
