I created this fever chart to run with Lydia DePillis’ story on the decline of payday lenders in the wake of a city ordinance passed a couple of years ago placing heavy restrictions on that business. Originally, we wanted a chart with two fever lines and two scales, but I talked them into going with a simpler treatment. Simple is better. After Robert Wuensche designed the page, I changed the colors to match the photo.
