What the Union Carbide company did in Bhopal, India, 30 years ago, was downright criminal. And I mean that literally -- While U.S. courts refused to extradite company officials, Indian courts sentenced seven Indian citizens to two years in jail each plus a fine. About 15,000 people died that night and untold hundreds have died since. More than 20,000 still live near there, exposed to chemicals in groundwater and soil -- chemicals the current owner, Dow, refuses to take responsibility for.
