It was the 50th anniversary of "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer," the 45th anniversary of "Frosty the Snowman," the 40th anniversary of "the Year Without a Santa Claus," the 15th anniversary of "Olive, the Other Reindeer" and the 25th anniversary of the first-ever Simpsons episode, which was a Christmas special. So naturally, I had to put in my two cents' worth. If you can find a readable version of this page, it's worth a look. I found lots of fascinating factoids about these shows. Did you know, for example, the the voice of Rudolph's Hermey was also the voice of the original cartoon Spider-Man? The voice of Scrooge McDuck was Wilbur on "Mr. Ed"? That Frosty was designed by a Mad magazine artist? Fun stuff. This ran in the OC Register after I left and in the Victoria Advocate before I started.
