For my Friday page, I wanted to do something special for the 100th birthday of the crossword puzzle on Saturday. Back in September, I contacted the kid who creates the puzzles the O.C. Register runs in its community papers. We commissioned him to come up with a special 100th anniversary puzzle. I ran the puzzle, a bio of the kid -- he's an 11th grader -- a very brief history of crosswords aggregated from two or three sources and the actual first puzzle itself.
