My second geology piece in a week observed the 90th anniversary of the Tokyo earthquake. The story was compelling enough, but what really knocked me out were the gorgeous old block prints I found floating around the internet. It took some searching, but I finally found just the right ones -- and in the public domain. So I tossed out the old black-and-white photos and went with the period illustrations. I thought the colors on this page were gorgeous. And the story about the "dragon twist" was terrifying. Aug. 30, 2013.
