This was a fun one. I had seen the anniversary on a number of sites, so recounting the story of the development of the bar code was easy enough. The photos weren't compelling, however, so I decided to spent most of my real estate showing you how to read a bar code. I get bonus points, I think, for using one of my favorite Mad magazine covers ever at the bottom right. June 26, 2014
